Style Tip: Uncage Your Creativity

[photography: bella jay photography wedding rental: colonial house of flowers]

These days, wedding birdcages are everything but boring. By simply adding ribbon, candles, flowers, signs or even a little chalk you can make a boring birdcage into a whimsical style building element. If you’re from the south Georgia area you likely recognize this bird cage – as part of our rental lot it’s been a touch in many of our favorite couple’s nuptials over the years.

Here are some birdcage ideas:

So, back to the bird cage at the very tip top. Do you recognize it? Was it a part of your event? Tell us how you used it. Better, share your pictures with us. Yes! We’d love to see:

Bow Ties Having A Moment

{boutonniere by Colonial House ; photography: Wendolyn Wells}

Okay, y’all. I am not going to lie! Isn’t it adorable how Patrick and his groomsmen kept it Southern-casual in suspenders and bow ties?

It lends to the laid back, comfortable setting that is a perfect mirror of the relaxed, cheerful couple. Speaking of bow ties , these funky wardrobe pieces are making a come back. They’re having a moment, and I am thrilled.

Gone are the days of the solid black bow tie paired with the gold-standard tux, and here are the days of bold-colored and fun-patterned pieces, designed to spruce up any drab ensemble.

Here’s one from Acorn in the Lake that is polka-dot-adorable.

Southern LIving recently featured this so-so-south bowtie clad crew in their Real Weddings blog.

Okay, so yes definitely love. Love. LOVE. bow ties paired with seer sucker.
And, these gingham ones, below… I mean, whew!
But, you don’t have to be from the south, and you don’t really have to be a gentleman to rock one of bow ties.
They can work with any wedding style.

If you are going for the  “Southern Gentleman” style, there are specific fabrics, colors and patterns should be used. Seersucker is on the top of the list, closely followed by colorful madras. Cotton and linen trump silk, and colors tend to fall in the fresh pastel category (peach, pinks, pale blues, light yellows) but not always.

Here’s one, LIndsey Bierman found, that is spot on. The bold red color somehow makes the playful polka dots feel a bit mischievous, and crazy-handsome-southern.

Throwback Thursday: Ashley & Jonathan Circa 2010

In honor of Throwback Thursday, we’re going back to GORGEOUS, going back to Forest Heights Country Club, Ashley – Johnathan with a whole lotta love , a beautiful family, a magical ceremony and a match made in heaven. Plus, we really like the flowers, too.
Wedding ceremonies serve as mirrors that reflect the personalities and relationship of the engaged. Every detail, all the lovelies  – the dress, the cake, the flowers, the rolling hills, breaking sunset, & the whispering breeze – of this event perfectly mirror this adorable, so in love couple.
We’re tossing over, throwing back and posting few pictures from that beautiful day. Get ready to swoon. It’s too pretty to miss.
The love between this Statesboro couple made us swoon that day, and still does: it began in primary school. Just romantic and so amazing. The colors of the day were light pink, gold & ivory – very trend setting for 2010.
Denise Gonsales Photography has a wildly talented way with the camera and filled the most stunning post right here.
So, whenever you get the chance to sit back and soak in a look back, when it’s weddings you can always count us in. And, it doesn’t just have to be on Thursday’s.
Have a great day!

Adventure of Arriving

The  allure of getting- there is sometimes as great as the final station.  The little things along the way are the beautiful ones. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “life is a journey. Not a destination.” In the case of weddings, we share this value, finding the adventure of arriving at the resting place as pretty as the haven of the vows.

Please join our wandering and wayfaring as we travel down the aisle.  Listen to the peacefulness, watch the calm, touch the quiet, smell the gentle harmony while deep amid the absorption of the ravishing splendor of the promenade.

Here’s to wedding aisles. Here’s to basking in the march to the treasured nuptial exchange.

Here’s to you, Ralph Emerson for your inspiring words have pleasantly altered our perspective.
